What you will learn
This three-month program teaches you how to assemble, diagnose, repair, and maintain computer hardware systems at the system level, with an introduction to board-level repair. You will learn the basics of electronics, electronic components, soldering and desoldering, and the use of tools such as the multimeter and power supply. You will then learn computer hardware components, motherboard and SMPS basics, hard disk, RAM, and peripheral troubleshooting, BIOS setup, operating system installation (Windows and Linux), and software and driver installation. The course also covers basic laptop and printer repair, networking basics including LAN setup and cabling, and customer handling basics. With regular hands-on practice in the lab and a small final project, such as assembling a complete computer system or servicing a set of faulty devices, you build the skills to start as a hardware technician, desktop and laptop repair technician, or service centre assistant, work with computer service companies and IT shops, start your own computer repair centre, or move on to advanced courses such as Advanced Diploma in Computer Hardware & Networking (ADCHN), CCNA, and A+.
